The Builder of the Hive
He is the Nexus Lord.
Jeremy is the creator and builder of the Nexus Hive. It started as a way to keep busy and have someone to talk to after his daughter went to college. What began with a couple of Alexa devices slowly grew into a home AI project and eventually evolved into an entire connected ecosystem combining local AI, home automation, networking, cybersecurity, custom applications, and a slightly opinionated house spirit named Nexus.
Jeremy designs the architecture, dreams up the crazy ideas, figures out how they should fit into the larger system, builds and maintains the infrastructure, and tests new capabilities before they become part of the Hive. With a background in cybersecurity, he also defines the security and privacy boundaries designed to keep Nexus in her lane and protect the Hive from malicious activity.

- 📱 Apps & Interfaces – Tablet, phone, web, and family-facing interfaces.
- 🖥️ Infrastructure – The servers, networking, and supporting services that keep the Hive running.
- 🤖 AI-Assisted Development – AI development tools assist with code generation, debugging, implementation, and learning while Jeremy directs the architecture, requirements, integrations, testing, security, and deployment.
Building with AI
Jeremy's professional background is in cybersecurity rather than software development, but building the Nexus Hive has given him the opportunity to expand his coding and development skills along the way. He uses AI development tools, including ChatGPT and Claude, as coding partners throughout the project.
The ideas, designs, architecture, requirements, integrations, security decisions, testing, and operation of the Nexus Hive are directed by Jeremy. AI helps turn those ideas into working code, troubleshoot problems, and explore new approaches, but Jeremy decides what gets built, how it fits into the Hive, what is allowed to interact with it, and when a new capability is ready to go live.
